The Factor Of Fracture

Individuals generally struggle with the key elements of need and expectation…and they carry those elements into relationships.

What one person wants is a conglomerate of their life’s experiences both good and bad. We are what we are because of what we have been. What we will become is entirely dependant on what we decide to do with what we have.

Little wonder then that the search for a kindred spirit can be frustrating and, for some, ultimately fruitless.

And yet the search can becoming a driving force. The pursuit of a satisfactory explanation for our reason for being can become relentless.

The over-riding problem is that the world and many of those people in our own piece of the world can conspire – not always with intent and malice – to shatter the desired peace and reality of our own existence. The higher we build, the further we reach, the greater chance that fault-lines will appear. Left unattended, those fault-lines develop into visible cracks which separate fantasy from reality; truth from lies; peace from unrest.

Society is made up of individuals in various stages of fracture and confusion. There are those who accept their state of being while others face the relentless battle of change, improvement and progression.

Regression can sometimes appear to be an option which is preferable to the effort required for maintenance and most certainly an easier choice than forging ahead into an uncertain future.

But – borne by the conviction that effort will be rewarded – most people work on both their needs and expectations all the while considering the needs and expectations of those they encounter.

It’s true that our small slice of the world, our little pocket of community can always be better tomorrow than it is today.

Our contribution is to start by looking at what lies within before criticising what lies without.
