Motivation and enthusiasm are two driving forces essential to success. We need a reason and we need an interest to keep us going. One without the other can result in inaction, missed opportunity and, ultimately, disappointment.
Something motivation and enthusiasm have in common is required input. Both can be little more than passing moods if not for effort on behalf of the individual.
Together, they are a bridge between desire and achievement…the necessary link that turns ideas into success. Without them the only guaranteed result is failure.
That’s why motivation and enthusiasm have to be nurtured. More than that, they must be sustained.
Wanting something is not enough. Aspiration alone achieves little without passion, direction and effort.
We choose our own level of motivation. We decide the degree of enthusiasm we are prepared to contribute. The power to succeed is not something that can be handed to us. Inspiration can be drawn from the examples of others but emotional encouragement is unsustainable if not backed by personal commitment.
Every day brings with it new opportunities…the chance for self-improvement. What we do with the positives that are presented is entirely personal. The same can be said for the negatives we face. The most influential force is the one we choose to focus our attention on. The only person who can decide whether we embrace the good or the bad, the positive or the negative, the darkness or the light is ourselves.
And the only person who can decide how much effort we will expend on making our day – and, by implication, ourselves – a little better is ourselves.
Time passes very quickly. It’s not something we should waste. There are days when we are capable of making great strides forwards. There are other days when the best we can manage is one foot in front of the other. Find and feed motivation and enthusiasm. Both are well worth the effort.
